The flourishing NFT space is difficult to navigate even for those who are fully immersed. The space is growing and evolving as quickly as one’s Twitter feed.
With a barrage of new projects, artists, trends, and news daily it is easy to feel overwhelmed, especially if you are not following the right people. Your information feed can quickly become clouded. This is especially true for newcomers who are just entering the scene and finding their feet. For some, it may seem like the wild west and without any credible points of contact, it’s easy to get lost.
Since the boom of NFTs this year, certain individuals that made the right decisions, actively participated in building and shaping projects, supporting artists, and becoming curators and creators themselves, have also become collectors and earned a newfound reputation as ‘influencers’. Whether it’s as simple as a viewpoint reflecting on developments in the space, defining new trends, curating impressive multi-million dollar collections, brokering monumental trades or simply NFT memes, these personalities have built a large and dedicated following that brings with it attention, support, and respect. As a result, for many, they have become an invaluable source of information and are contributing to the growth of the entire community.
For the benefit of newcomers and even NFT enthusiasts, below is a list of knowledgeable people, aka personalities, in no particular order who have been recognized as some of the most important and creative in the space by the NFT community. This list will include short profiles that summarise their background and their activity in the space. Keep in touch with them and you will soon find yourself very well acquainted with the NFT world!
OhhShiny
OhhShiny is a community champion and has been in the crypto scene since 2013, he arrived from a fine art background which provided him with the foundations for grasping the concept of NFTs. Since he joined the Twitter scene, he has gained over 52,000 followers. He is currently hosting daily Twitter spaces with the Ohh Shiny show, produced by Herb and co-hosted by Farokh. Here they discuss the most topical news and interview some of the biggest names in the NFT space with community, culture, and vibes all underpinning the conversation. Subsequently, it has grown into one of the most esteemed Twitter spaces show. Additionally, Ohh Shiny has embarked on a business venture in the metaverse with Digital.xyz, he is a founding partner alongside Mark Daniel and Steven Cohen.
Loopify
Loopify is known for his informative and insightful threads that break down the complexities of the space, it has also seen him accumulate a Twitter following of over 100k. He began his journey as an artist and writer, educating newcomers to the crypto art and NFT scene with Loop News. Additionally, he was collecting and investing in NFTs which eventually led him towards blockchain gaming. He created Treeverse, an NFT collection that gives owners the ability to enter an open, MMORPG world where they will be able to customize their experience and play to earn. As well as this, he is involved with a number of other projects including interleave, an entertainment company bringing 3D animated films to the NFT space.
Andrew Wang
Andrew Wang is an NFT writer, artist, and journalist whose popularity has skyrocketed since entering the NFT space. His writing has featured in some of the most established publications including the Verge, ONE37PM, and the Washington post. Moreover, he has been nominated for ‘the best-written coverage of NFTs’ award for the NYC NFT event, further outlining his importance in bridging the gap through writing. He is possibly the nicest person in the space and this is reflected through his following of 50,000 followers. He is an avid collector, widely known for being the proud owner of the upside-down cat, a special 1/1 NFT from the Cool Cats collection. Recently, he has hosted a number of spaces spotlighting new collections, ideas, and most importantly, spreading positivity.
Punk6529
Punk 6529 is dedicated to sharing his knowledge throughout the NFT community. He has onboarded newcomers to the scene through helpful beginner threads that unpack complex topics as well as interesting thoughts for the future of NFTs. One of his most liked threads is a list of phrases that are widely used in the NFT space alongside their definitions. Furthermore, he is a passionate NFT collector and holds an enormous portfolio of NFTs showcased in two separate galleries as well as his OpenSea collection. Since his entry into the Twitter scene in May 2021, he has garnered over 128.2k followers. With every tweet, Punk6529 delivers value through knowledge and memes, important for any newcomer!
There are certainly varying degrees of opinion and agreement regarding where the best knowledge stems from. As always, I encourage you to do your own research to supplement any information that you receive!
